All classes have music lessons with their class teacher as well as taking part in group singing lessons. Children take part in performances through such events as class assemblies, end of term productions and extra-curricular clubs. The children are given opportunities to hear live music through regular visits by professional musicians. In addition tuition in violin, guitar and piano is provided by visiting teachers through the Borough Instrumental Teaching Scheme. Parents / carers are actively encouraged to apply for tuition when their child is considered old enough. (Usually from Year 3) There is a termly charge for instrumental tuition which is payable in advance. This does not include the hire of an instrument, which can be arranged at local music shops.

At Fairway Primary School we believe that Music is a unique form of communication that can change the way that pupils feel, think and act.

Music forms part of our school day and we
play a variety of different types of Music at
the beginnings of our assemblies.
On Tuesdays, after school, our choir practises.
This year we took part in The Barnet Music
Festival which was held at The Albert Hall.

Many of us learn instruments. Every Wednesday lunchtime we have our
recorder group.

Even the staff enjoy playing and have started
their own band!
This year we entered the Barnet Dance Festival
and danced to the song “Summer Holiday.”
