15th January 2010
Dear Parents/Carers
Happy New Year to you all and what a start we have had!!!!
Thank you for all the lovely gifts and cards we received at the end of last term. They were very much appreciated.
I am sorry that we had to close the school for three days but it was necessary for Health & Safety reasons, especially now that the Years 1 to 6 are in temporary accommodation which has outside fire escapes! All parents were sent a text message about closures so if you didn’t get a message that means we don’t have your correct mobile number. Please come in or drop us a note with your correct mobile number if this applies to you so as to ensure you will receive texts in the future.
Boots (Years 1 to 6)
It is very difficult to keep the children in all day as they become very agitated by the afternoon. During snowy weather all children need to bring boots to change into so they can go out to play. Please note they also need to bring their school shoes to change into once they are in the building. Thank you.
New Building
As you can see the new building is going up really quickly. They continued working through all the snow etc. so well done Kier. They (Kier) gave us £50 for Christmas and we purchased Santa presents for the children which were very much appreciated. We look forward to seeing the building develop further.
Breakfast Club (Rec to Year 6)
We have periodically asked parents/carers if they need the facility of a Breakfast Club. Up to now the demand has not been sufficient to warrant this. Circumstances change so I am asking again. If you would use this facility, please fill in the slip below and send it back to me. If there is sufficient take-up now I will endeavour to get this venture up and running.
Fun Club (Rec to Year 6)
This is becoming very very popular. Please remember we need at least two days notice if you want to use the club. We need to staff this facility properly so we cannot just take children in at the last minute. We still need more resources so if you have of the following you can donate, we would be very grateful:
Large bean bags (for children to sit on/in)
Small sofa
Books
X box games
Parent/Carer Consultation day/evening Yr 1 – Yr 6
This will be on Wednesday 10th February from 3:30pm – 6:00pm and Thursday 11th February from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. More information and a return slip to fill in times will follow shortly.
We will be asking you to do a short questionnaire on these days to tell us what you think about Fairway. Whilst you fill in the questionnaire, tea/coffee will be available before or after your consultation in the hall so come and tell us what you think.
Thursday May 6th – Closed for Polling – Yr1 – Yr 6 (CHILDREN CENTRE AND NURSERY NOT CLOSED)
I’ve tried really hard to not have the school closed on this day but I am afraid I lost. Please put this date in your diary.
Homework Diaries and Reading Diaries
You should have seen your child’s new homework diary (Yr 2 and Juniors) for this term. If not please ask your child to show you it as you need to sign this every day. Reading diaries (Rec & Yr 1) also need to be brought into school and signed/commented on every day. Thank you for your co-operation regarding this.
