Dear Parents/Carers
What a long term! It has been a really busy but exciting time for Fairway. I am sure you are looking forward to getting out of the routines of school life for a few weeks.
Jesus’ Christmas Party
Our Infants put on a wonderful show this year. They sang their hearts out and made us laugh and cry! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for putting in so much extra work to make this show so enjoyable.
Primary Science Quality Mark
Thanks to all the hard work of the staff and children at Fairway we have been awarded the silver level of the Primary Science Quality Mark. The Award acknowledges the variety of work and activities done at school as well as the level of attainment.
Recycling
You have probably noticed our new addition on the pathway to the playground – Bertie Bin. All your shoes and clothes can now be placed in this bin which is more fun for the children. Please tie shoes together and put all items in plastic bags to place in the bin.
As a result of reducing our waste at school by over a half during ‘Watch your Waste Week’, the Barnet Waste and Sustainability Team have bought the children a very grand wormery to help recycle our fruit and vegetables. Well done Fairway.
Our New Chair of Governors
Mr Andrew Cox (father of Emily Yr 6 and Timothy Yr 4) is now our new Chair of Governors. We wish him all the best in his new role. He is here most days before and after school if you want to speak to him.
Emergency Contact Form (Primary School Only)
There are still many of you who have not handed in your yellow emergency contact form. Please can you ensure that this is handed into the office on the first day back after Christmas. This is very important because if we need to contact you in an emergency and we do not have the correct telephone numbers this can cause a great deal of problems.
Tissues
Would you be willing to donate a box of tissues to your child’s class? It would be useful to have a box of tissues available for children to use during the day; if they were donated it would be a big saving for us.
Thank you.
Breakfast Club (Primary School Only)
We have periodically asked parents/carers if they need the facility of a Breakfast Club. The demand is still not sufficient to warrant this as we only received three slips back. The Barnet Child Minding Network Service operates from our Children’s Centre, so if you do require childcare before school give them a call on 020 8359 3350, I am sure they will be able to help you.
School Dinners (Primary School Only)
Once again, please ensure that Dinner Money is paid every MONDAY or for the whole half term. The cost for the next half term is £58.50 or £9.75 per week. Please make cheques payable to Fairway Primary School. Please remember that if you would like to change from school dinners to packed lunch or vice versa you MUST give the office two weeks notice.
SCHOOL AND NURSERY CLASS

CHILDREN’S CENTRE SERVICES INCLUDING DAYCARE
