Year One have been learning all about toys. We thought carefully about why we have toys and the different things which we use them for. We sorted them into categories using lots of different criteria. Through our science work we found out that toys are made from lots of different materials and that the materials used to make toys has changed over time. We then researched and compared the toys we have now to the toys that our parents and grandparents used to play with. We found out lots of interesting facts. Did you know that cuddly toys used to be made from goat’s fur and wood shavings, and that they were actually hard?
We also thought about our own favourite toys and brought them into school so that we could write a page about them for our very own non-fiction book. Please come to our class and read it if you want to find out more.
